The Skyclad Fashionista

Hey guys! So, if you didn't know already, I may or may not have a huge small addiction to mesh heads. I can't help it, they're so pretty. The newest craze on the market is the Genus Project heads, and I tried SO hard to not pick it up....but the baby face variant was just too cute... It's my duty as a blogger to have it....right?? At a cool $L5.5K, the price is nothing to shake a stick at, but it comes with pretty much everything you need, so it runs about half of the price of Catwa (when buying a new catwa head and the animation HUD). You do need to purchase an omega relay, which seems really silly to me for the price of the head itself, but at $L99, it's not too bad. All layers on the Genus head are omega-compatible, so all of your favourite omega skins and makeups should work, but with any omega heads, may not fit the shape perfectly. I grabbed the Saturday Sale (out early!) hair from Astrology (and checked out their moving sale!!!), the bodysuit lingerie from Tentacio, and just went to town playing with my new face.

 I grabbed 6 omega-friendly skins that I thought looked lovely on the head, I tried to be varied, but I do tend to go for skins that have a pretty similar "look" to them, and tend to stick to pale tones in general.

 I feel like I should probably write more but I'm currently quite sick, and this was fun but exhausting. Excuse me while I take a nap <3

Normally Friday is my favourite day of the week... but today has just been terrible so far. I woke up this morning to a call from a friend who lives in the house behind mine that someone had thrown a rock through my back windshield... after several hours of dealing with police, insurance, etc, I have time to kill waiting on the glass people to get here, so I thought hey what better way to try and cheer myself up than with a little retail therapy? Today also marks the 10th anniversary of my great-grandmother's passing... she was like a second mother to me, so today has been hard all around... However, shopping was one of her absolute favourite activities, so I feel like I'm honouring her memory well. 

But anyway, onto the fashion. 

The FLF list is chock full of awesome stuff that will surely make your day brighter. I've snagged FLF items from NYU, Fri.day, and Half-deer to put this cute outfit together. 

 

The Striped belted dress in autumn from NYU comes in all 5 standard sizes, although they are labeled funny. The dress works sort of with some mesh bodies, but is a no-go with others. I managed to get it to fit well enough for photos on Maitreya body, but it just would not work with my Belleza... but the dress itself certainly is lovely!

I've paired the dress with these great boots and socks from Fri.day! The Ingrid boots come in Ash, and 3 pairs of socks in wintery tones are included in the pack as well (i'm wearing 'oatmeal'). The boots themselves are unrigged, as well as the sock tops, and should fit just about everybody, but the socks in the pack are APPLIER ONLY! The pack does not include system layers unfortunately.


Finally, I've topped my outfit off with deals, and specials! So, first, I just wanna say that guys.... you are seriously all awesome. I know, I know, I do this every time my blog hits what I feel like is a "milestone" number of views, but really, I can't express exactly how much it means to me that people actually take the time out of their day to read my little blog. Reign's shoes for FLF are absolutely GLORIOUS! The breakup heels come in the full fatpack of colours including solids, colour/black accents, and multiple metal options to change the studs on them. The pack includes heels rigged for Slink high feet, maitreya high feet (shown) and also for Belleza feet! For $L50, you cannot afford NOT to grab these!

Pixicat's Sheer dress in yellow is absolutely darling, and compliments the tanned skintone of Lumae's skin for the cart sale at the wash! For just $L10 you can get the skin I'm wearing in my photos, plus all of the appliers you could ever want! The lovely hair that I'm wearing is currently available from Doe at the My Attic event! And, of course, we can't forget the accessories! I'm so glad that Slink finally included to paint each nail individually, it's so much fun mixing and matching styles!

So, yesterday my blog officially turned one year old! It's been an interesting year with a few ups, and a lot of downs... I've gained quite a few amazing sponsors, been turned down by more than I care to admit, lost a few friends, gained a few new ones, passed the 5K views hurdle, and am quickly approaching 10K. As I reflect on this past year, I just want to say thank you to all of my readers, all of my sponsors, all of the bloggers who have given me tips, and helped me get better, the friends that hold me up when I just don't feel like I can do anything anymore, and my partner who spell checks my blog, laughs at my bad jokes... which there are many of, cheers me up when I'm down, which is often, and stands beside me... no matter what silly decision I make... Thanks to all of you, I've become a damn good blogger, and I plan to continue to get even better... So, Happy birthday, Skyclad Fashionista... and many many more!

With all of that said... let's move on to some of my favourite things: Rainbows, cupcakes, glitter, and unicorns!!

So, I can never ever get my fill of kawaii. A couple of friends and I were out shopping for a look to go along with a pair of Dilly Dolls shoes that just came out... a bit more on why I'm NOT wearing them later, but I just could not resist ALL of the kawaii at Katat0nik while we were out!!

So, today we here in the USA took a great big step in the right direction for marriage equality. Today, our Supreme Court ruled in FAVOR of equality and overturned both prop 8 and DOMA. While this isn't the end of the battle over marriage equality, it is the first step on the road to winning that war!

In celebration of this awesome event, my partner and I got together, I put on as much awesome rainbow as I could find, and we decided to be adorable. While my partner and I are not in a same-sex relationship, here or in SL, we both wholeheartedly support LGBT rights, and to show our support, he decided to be a SHE for a while!

Okay so now that I am back from taking care of my partner, and myself (although the legal bit of that battle isn't over yet...ugh, doctors AND lawyers? I'd rather have a root canal!), I needed something fun to do... so a friend of mine told me about the arcade gatcha event that's going on right now, and I just had to check it out... Now, I LOVE a good sale, but I really have the worst luck, and I hate taking chances... SO the arcade yard sales are the thing for me!!

Just in case you're not sure what I'm talking about, an arcade yard sale, or gatcha yard sale, is where people get together and sell off the extra items they got from the gatcha machines at the arcade event. Sometimes you can get a GREAT deal and find items for even less than the gatcha price, but more often than not the items are at the price for a play at the gatcha, or more if the item is a rare one.

Thankfully, all of the items I wanted from the event were commons, and I managed to get everything I wanted, mostly for the gatcha price, but a few for less. 

Along with all of the excitement of the yard sale searching, I also found out that it was Iki Ikiri of Violent Seduction's rezday! To celebrate, she lowered the price of her sailor tops and bloomers to just $L10 a piece!! I ended up buying 6 tops (a black and white version of 3 different colours) and 3 pairs of bloomers that matched!

You won't need to play the gatcha to get the...
